A Day in the Life of a JTR Energy HVAC Technician

Rise and Shine: Starting the Day Right

My alarm goes off at 6:00 AM, and I’m up and ready to tackle another day as an HVAC technician at JTR Energy. After a quick breakfast and coffee, I’m out the door by 7:00 AM, heading to our first service call in Bourbonnais.

Morning: Troubleshooting in Bourbonnais

8:00 AM: I arrive at a residential property in Bourbonnais. The homeowner reports their air conditioning unit isn’t cooling properly. After a thorough inspection, I discover a refrigerant leak. I explain the situation to the client and proceed with the necessary repairs.

Mid-Morning: Commercial Job in Monee

10:30 AM: My next stop is a commercial building in Monee. They’re experiencing issues with their heating system. I perform a comprehensive check and find that the furnace needs a new ignitor. Luckily, I have the part in my truck, so I’m able to replace it on the spot.

Lunch Break

12:30 PM: I take a quick lunch break in Peotone, enjoying a sandwich while catching up on some paperwork and preparing for the afternoon ahead.

Early Afternoon: Routine Maintenance in Matteson

1:30 PM: I head to Matteson for a scheduled maintenance appointment. This involves:

  • Cleaning or replacing air filters
  • Checking refrigerant levels
  • Inspecting electrical connections
  • Lubricating moving parts

Late Afternoon: Emergency Call in Crete

3:30 PM: I receive an emergency call from a client in Crete. Their AC has completely stopped working on one of the hottest days of the year. I quickly diagnose the problem as a faulty capacitor and replace it, much to the relief of the grateful homeowner.

Evening: Wrapping Up in Chicago Heights

5:30 PM: My final stop of the day is in Chicago Heights, where I perform a routine inspection on a newly installed HVAC system. Everything checks out, and I provide the client with some tips on maintaining their system’s efficiency.

End of Day: Reflecting on a Job Well Done

7:00 PM: As I drive back to the JTR Energy office in Frankfort, I reflect on another successful day of helping clients stay comfortable in their homes and businesses. It’s a challenging job, but the satisfaction of solving problems and providing essential services makes it all worthwhile.

After completing my paperwork and preparing for tomorrow’s schedule, I head home, ready to rest and recharge for another day of keeping our communities in Illinois cool in summer and warm in winter.
